Transactions · How they got him

The Bulls drafted Justin Patton 16th in 2017, and the Timberwolves likely got him in a draft-night swap for Lauri Markkanen.

Lauri Markkanen (7th) was the Timberwolves' pick that year and first shows up with the Bulls. The log doesn't record the trade and first mentions Patton with the Timberwolves signing on Jul 4, 2017.
